Third Annual Church Music Festival
Held at the Church on the Cape, August 12 & 14, 2011

This festival was the crowning event in our summer music series. Bringing together church musicians and choristers from beyond our state, it was composed of two parts - a Friday organ concert and the grand finale - a 50+ voice chorus in concert on Sunday evening.

Friday, August 12th at 7 p.m. - Our Annual Summer Organ Concert welcomed Mark Thallander, Randy Mullin and Albert Melton as an exciting trio of cathedral organists.

Mark was an organist at the Crystal Cathedral from 1976-1993, but lost his left arm in an auto accident here in Maine in 2003. His faith and perseverance overcame what would have been a career-ending tragedy. Randy Mullin was, for 27 years, the Organist and Choirmaster at St. Davidís Episcopal Church in Baltimore. Albert Melton is currently the Cathedral Musician and Choir Master at the Cathedral Church of St Luke in Portland. All three have performed at our church in the past and we warmly welcome their return.

Sunday, August 14th at 7p - Our three-day festival concluded with the Choral Festival. Choristers from around New England are led by Tom Matrone. Mr. Matrone, Director of the National Music Department of the Assemblies of God, has been a Minister of Music for the past 29 years. His gentle enthusiasm and musical insights led our chorus to new heights of inspired performance.

This event was truly an exceptional experience for all who participated, from the soloists, the lead musicians to the audience.

Beryl Samia, our organist and choir director, coordinated this festival which supported the Keith McClelland Community Music Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to bringing quality music to the Kennebunks.
